What we do

We are youth led. Our sessions are informal, flexible, and tailored to the needs of the young people taking part. We support young people to shape their experience across four areas of work: creative drop-ins; Youth Forum and Young Volunteers; schools; community partnerships.

Creative drop-ins

Our creative drop-ins provide safe, welcoming, and inspiring spaces for young people. They are a regular, consistent part of our core programme.

Arts-based sessions engage young people in creative activities as well as games, arts tables, space for informal chat and a wellbeing corner.

Youth Forum & Young Volunteers

Youth Forum (The Magnificent Blue)

Weekly sessions, offering a safe space for young people to express their views,  interests and shape how Create is run.

Young Volunteers

After an induction and training process, young volunteers engage in regular volunteering within Create Paisley’s outreach programme, including sessions delivered with our community partners.

I have been a young volunteer since the beginning of March… which has helped me to learn new skills such as communication, teamwork and planning skills. I have also had a massive boost in confidence due to the experiences I have taken part in.

School lunch clubs

These sessions provide a quiet, safe, welcoming space, away from the sometimes overwhelming, busy atmosphere of a regular school lunch break. We provide a creative activity and a space to meet friends and have lunch.

We currently offer this in two different schools:

  • Johnstone High School
  • Castlehead

Community partnerships

Our community partnerships respond to community needs, aspirations and the demand for our services. They extend our reach into working with children and families, as well as young people.

They currently include:

  • Resettlement Family Group (with Renfrewshire Council)
  • Games & Grub – an after school club providing games, craft activities and a meal for young people aged P5-7 (led by our partners Active Communities)
  • Young Carers – in partnership with Renfrewshire Carers Centre, we work across 4 different high schools in Renfrewshire
  • Family Zone –  in partnership with Methodist Central Halls, a welcoming space for families to unleash their imagination
  • Residential settings – creative sessions where young people feel connected and part of the wider community
  • The Garden – a collaborative, community art project, to design and create a public artwork for Barshaw Park
